Torty keeps a care log for your cats and shares it with the people you live with. It collects what that needs and nothing else: no advertising, no analytics trackers, no selling of anything.
On the phone only: your language choice, reminder settings, and a cached copy of the above so the app works offline. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone; there is no push server, and nothing about your reminders leaves the device.
Torty runs on a small number of services, each doing one job:
None of them are given more than they need for that job, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.
Your household sees the household. That's the whole of it. We don't sell, rent or trade personal data, and we don't share it with anyone else except when the law requires it.
Data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account, open Account → Delete account in the app. If you're the only person in your household, the household, its cats and the log are deleted with you. If others are in it, you leave and they keep the cats and the log; the earliest-joined member becomes the owner if you were. Deletion is immediate on our side; backups roll off within 30 days.
A Pro subscription is between you and the store. Deleting your account doesn't cancel it — do that in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
To get a copy of your data, or to have it deleted without using the app, email us from the address on the account.
Torty is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Data travels encrypted (TLS) and is stored encrypted at rest by the providers above. On your phone, the offline copy and your sign-in session are encrypted with a key kept in the phone's secure keystore, so they can't be read from a backup or by another app. The database only answers for the household you're signed into, and the plan can be changed only by the billing service, never by a phone. Access on our side is limited to what's needed to run the app and answer your reports. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so and the date at the top will move. Small wording fixes won't be announced.
The person responsible for your data under this policy is Hsiang-Huei You, an individual developer based in British Columbia, Canada. Questions, requests, or worries: support@tortypet.com.
