Torty

Terms of Use

Effective 16 September 2026

By using Torty you agree to these terms. They're short because the app is simple: it's a care log for your cats, and it should behave like one.

Who you're agreeing with

Torty is made and run by Hsiang-Huei You, an individual developer based in British Columbia, Canada, and not by a company. "We" and "us" in these terms mean that person. You can reach us at support@tortypet.com.

Using the app

You may use Torty on devices you own or control, for keeping track of your own animals. Don't use it to harass other people, to break the law, to overload or attack the service, or to do anything a reasonable cat would object to. You must be at least 13 to have an account.

You're responsible for your account and for the people you invite into your household. Anyone you invite sees everything in it. You can remove them, and they can leave.

Your content

The cats, the log, the names, the notes: they're yours. We don't claim any ownership. You give us permission to store and show that content to you and your household, which is what the app is for and nothing more. You can export or delete it at any time — see the Privacy Policy.

Torty Pro

Torty is free for up to three cats and three people in a household. Torty Pro lifts both limits and is sold as an auto-renewing subscription: $1.99 a month or $13.99 a year (or the equivalent in your local currency, as shown in the app before you buy).

Prices may change in the future. If they do for an existing subscription, the store will tell you first and ask you to agree.

Not veterinary advice

Torty helps you remember what you did and when. It doesn't know your cat. Nothing in the app — reminders, task names, defaults, or anything else — is medical advice, and a reminder firing or not firing is never a reason to give or skip medication. If you're unsure about your cat's health, ask a vet.

Availability and changes

Torty is made and run by one person. We'll do our best to keep it working, but it may be unavailable sometimes, and features may change or be removed. Your data on the phone keeps working offline, and we'll give reasonable notice before shutting anything down for good.

No warranty, limited liability

Torty is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.

If your use causes a claim

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Torty — content you put in it, people you invited, or a breach of these terms — you'll cover the reasonable costs we incur dealing with it, including legal fees. This doesn't apply to anything caused by our own fault.

Ending things

You can delete your account in the app at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we'll say why unless the law stops us.

The rest

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute goes to the courts of British Columbia, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to something else. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. We may update these terms; if a change matters, the app will say so and the date at the top will move.

If you got Torty from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple may enforce these terms as a third party. Apple has no obligation to maintain or support the app; that's on us.
